So why all the essentials oils, yoga, diet changes?
So what’s wrong with me?
Good question – my doctors float between ankylosing spondylitis and inflammation arthritis (which is a makey uppey illness that describes lots of inflammation related issues).
What does it mean for me?
I get lots of soft tissue damage very easily. I currently have plantar fasciitis which I have had for about 9 months now. Its pretty common and painful – I’m sure lots of you know someone with it or who has had it. Other random soft tissue issues include de Quervain’s Tenosynovitis – it came on so fast I thought I had been bitten by a spider – healed itself in a few weeks, inflammation of the chest cartilage – this one still bothers me occasionally.
Basically lots of inflammation, pain and fatigue.
What am I doing about it?
Well I’ve tried lots of medication – painkillers so strong I was floating around. Anti-inflammatories that made my stomach so sore I went for a gastroscopy to make sure I didn’t have a stomach ulcer. Pain blockers. Freezing of the nerves (ablation).
I have also tried every alternative therapy that says they treat back and neck pain!
So I think I have maybe exhausted my GP and rheumatologist as there ideas revolve around more drugs that cause more issues. I’ll keep checking in with them regularly as there may be some better treatments in the future. However I think that maybe aromatherapy and alternative medicine maybe able to pick up the gaps in my medication.
I’ll let you know how I get on – I am thinking the main sorts of areas I’d like to target it pain reduction, better sleep to help me recover and something to help with my energy levels.
Why do you care?
Maybe you have inflammation issues too? Maybe you get tired and want some good pick me up ideas? Maybe you are looking to improve your general health and wellness and want some ideas on how to start? I have no idea… but I hope you enjoy my page all the same.
I do recommend that before trying out any essential oils or new exercise/treatments you get the okay from your GP and also advice from a professional. Medications and essentials oils don’t always interact the way you expect and can be dangerous. Always do a patch test and dilute oils before using them for the first time. Do your research on the dosages and types on oils suitable for you and your family. What’s good for you might not be good for bub, fido or granny!
If in doubt seek professional advice.
